Mid 1920s up to early 1932 (when Winchester made the change from Nickel Steel to Proof Steel). If you check the barrel date, it will provide the year it was made. What is the serial number on that Sporting Rifle?

Thanks, It’s 238973, 1904 date. It must have been rebarreled.

I agree. If you are curious, the year the barrel was manufactured is stamped on the bottom of the barrel just forward of where it screws into the receiver frame. The date would give you a “no earlier than” date for when it was installed.
