I pick this gun up because I love double set triggers. The wood has been refinished and I can’t imagine why someone would go to the expense of putting this gorgeous piece of wood on this gun. The lady I purchased the gun from told me her husband was in the process of refinishing the gun. Could it be a deluxe or fake.
Thanks, Gerald
Gerald,
It looks like somebody’s “fantasy” creation. What is the serial number? The checkering on the butt stock is way too coarse, and the forend checkering pattern was first used on the Model 64 Deer Rifle, then on the Model 65 Special, Model 71 Special, and Model 43 Special rifles. Winchester used the older I-pattern and H-pattern checkering on the Model 55 rifles that were special ordered with checkered stocks.
