In normal times it seems Winchester makes a run of many of the old “hyphenated” cartridges about once a year. I can’t recall who I’ve bought mine from but it’s a small company and they’re good folks. As I understand it when they make a run of these less popular cartridge cases they have to modify the machine significantly for each cartridge. It’s not feasible to make a small run now and then so they make a large run and when they have enough orders they make another. Quite honestly I have no idea when “normal” times will return. I’ll check my notes when I get home, maybe someone else will remember the seller I’m thinking about.

Yes the 32-20 is much easier to find, and I can resize them to the 25-20, but it just goes against my grain to shoot shells labeled for a different caliber. Every once in a while you can run into some that are 25-30 years old that are factory loaded. Sometimes you can get them reasonable. I have about 250 rounds but would like to have another 200 rounds of brass to reload. I think we can forget starline brass. They have no intention to make any. I would think with the cowboy shooting they would be a good seller.

250 rds & you’re seeking MORE??? Guess that’s not many if you have a .25-20 Gatling Gun. I was almost thinking I had a box I could afford to part with for someone in dire need, but nix to that.

Well Clarence I do appreciate the offer, and that would have been greatly appreciated but I am not in dire need. I suppose I should elaborate a little on the numbers. I have two very old antique boxes of loaded ammo (100 rounds), that I will never shoot. I also have 3 boxes (150 rounds) of relatively modern ammo that I have been reloading. I am thinking one day those will have reached their limit for reloading, thus the need to start looking for some replacements when they can be found. I am a shooter, and have 2 boys that love to shoot also. I am an antique myself. Just like to be prepared.
The 25-20 is a fun cartridge to shoot.

I found this gun shop the other day that had some winchester factory loaded ones in 50 round box for $38 bucks a box. I did buy 4 boxes.

Nice, I’d expect to pay that for brass today. Saw several 1892’s in 25-20 at Cody. The ones I looked at even had decent bores.

What were the rifles going for? Fun caliber

Saw several of varying conditions and I’d characterize most or all as reasonable. I try to avoid buying rifles I don’t already load and cast for so I didn’t look too critically at them, just enjoying the view.
