hello all, today I bought a 94 in 32ws. I noticed the extractor is not ground flush with the top of the bolt like my other 1894/94’s although it seems to operate normally. my guess is it just slipped through QC at the factory, anybody have any ideas or similar issues

I don’t think the extractors were ground down after they were fitted in the bolt.  It is a part that can be broken and replaced and the replaced part seems to look just like the factory original guns to my eye.  I think most of the ones I’ve seen with poorly fitting extractors had been damaged.

My guess would be a bit of debris under the extractor.

Thanks guys, although….This rifle appears to have never been taken apart, screws are pristine and no signs of the extractor pin being punched out, but who knows, as I said it seems to function, and doesn’t look to have been fired much at all, aside from some carry wear on the left side of the receiver probably from hunting in northeast over the last 60+ years.

Hey guys, I pulled that extractor out today expecting a broken, worn or egg shaped retaining pin hole, but was surprised to see no signs or wear or breakage. Just thought I’d update the post…must just be a “tall” extractor that was milled out of spec.
