I picked up a SRC carbine a couple days ago. Serial is 1029448 which I think is a 1928. It looks like it hasnt been messed with much. What should the front sight blade be made off? Steel? This one looks to be brass. The tang isnt stamped Model 94. It’s marked Winchester/Trademark.
Thanks!

OfflineTodd,
Yes, 1928 (July). The Type-6 upper tang marking is correct. Does this carbine have a front barrel band forward of the front sight? The sight blades were usually blued steel, but could be brass or German silver.
