I have a friend who has this 1895, to me it looks like a musket but the rear sight is a bit too close to the receiver but the chamber marking on the barrel is still there which makes me wonder what is up if they cut the chamber down wouldn’t you lose the chamber markings? The barrel length is 22″ and the serial number is B95392, it has a trapdoor stock which says musket to me. It says “Nickel steel for smokeless only .30 – gov’t 06. It has the KSM stamp on the hammer but no where else. I was curious what anyone else might think of this, he said he would sell it to me if I really wanted it, but I think I might need to restock it with the musket stock but not sure if I want to deal with it if the barrel has been cut on. I am thinking maybe it was just sporterized a long time ago?
Thanks for your time,
Eric
