How “rare” are the 1894’s with nickel steel barrels chambered in 32-40 and 38-55?  Are there any rough statistics compiled from any of the surveys out there?  I have a real nice 1894 deluxe take-down 38-55 (circa 1906) that letters with the nickel steel barrel.  Just wondering how how common (or uncommon) this option is.

Thanks,

Don

Don,

The are certainly not real common, and at the same time, they are not overly rare. My best guess is approximately 5%, and more frequent after WW I.

Thanks Bert.  It’s certainly a nice little “bonus” on a special order 1894.
