I have 1894 made in 1898.   Winchester barrel with no caliber markings top or bottom.  Any ideas on why?  It seems to be 30 cal.

Looking in the Winchester Handbook it notes that all 1894 barrels were marked with caliber. Not having seen the gun in question, It leads me to assume that the barrel in question was reblued and the marking removed when it was buffed and polished.

The barrel could have been cut off on the chamber end and the markings removed of covered by the new threads.
