Any idea what this vertical row of holes are?  The top one and third one seem to be filled with ?? solder ??.

I suspect that they were used to mount some type of a rear peep sight, but that is only my guess.

Looks like it was some type of reciever sight, but most that I have seen,  mount on the left side of the receiver.
