RE: 1894 receiver mystery “holes” ???
Any idea what this vertical row of holes are? The top one and third one seem to be filled with ?? solder ??.

I suspect that they were used to mount some type of a rear peep sight, but that is only my guess.

Thank-you, Bert H. ! I agree, but would expect similar configurations to pop-up on the internet. So far, no luck.

Looks like it was some type of reciever sight, but most that I have seen, mount on the left side of the receiver.
