I saw this 1894, 30 WCF rifle for sale today. It is serial # 62,657, so an 1899 DOM rifle. For some reason the transition from OB to RB does not look right. What say U? Thanks in advance. Eagle

The barrel looks correct from the photo, the finish on the magazine tube and barrel look to be the same wear and color.  Without looking at the stamping on on the barrel and from limited information It appears correct.

Looks good to me. You don’t see a lot of half round rifles that don’t have a button magazine.

I guess that I need to clarify my original post…the transition area from octagon to round looks short/chopped off to me. From the ones that I remember, there does not seem to be a long enough taper to the round barrel. Old eyes and could be a remembering thing. I’ll try and find another picture of one to compare. Maybe the really early guns were different than the later ones. Eagle

Its a letterable rifle, so if its something you are interested in buying I would run the serial number. I actually thought the transition in the first pictures looked a bit questionable too.

Hello,

There does appear to be a slight difference between the point of change from octagon to round dependent on wether or not the magazine is a half or full length.

Looks correct based on my small sample. My 1894 example is SN 1607XX with a button mag. My other example is an 1873 (SN7192XX) HR/HO w/ full mag; consistent with that as well.
