1894 Half Mag Question

A B-I-L has a half octagonal/half round barreled 1894 (S/N : 3594XX) made in 1907 (?). The mag tube looks to be cut down to a half mag from a full mag configuration. What say you all?

The barrel would not have the “extra” dovetail if it was an original half mag.

And the magazine end cap would be rounded and not the flat style as on your rifle.
