I bought this a few weeks ago with the Lyman 21 Sight missing but with the holes.  I am not certain if it was ordered with the sight or not.  I recently purchased this sight from a member here.  I do have a letter on the way for the gun. How does the rest of the gun look to you?  Are the Swivel eyes correct for a 1902 rifle?  The gun has seen it share of use for sure but the screws all remain nearly perfect.  The original finish is present but well worn.  The wood was quite nice in it’s day.  I’m in for 800 so how did I do?

I would say at $800.00 You don’t have much to fret about, the wood is worth that much. Good find.

It is going to letter as an “Extra Lightweight” Take Down Rifle, most likely with the screw eyes, as they look correct.  I suspect that the Lyman No. 21 was added after the fact.  Still, it is worth at least 2X what you paid for it.

It’s nice to learn, Old Guns, I am not the only collector that will take a chance on buying on a hunch.  I had to buy two guns to get one, that may have had a Lyman sight removed.  Thanks for sharing.  You paid a lot less than I did.  Had to find a correct saddle ring too.  Roger B

Very nice rifle.  Even if the Lyman 21 does not letter, you can tell by the amount of finish wear around the sight, that a 21 has been on the rifle for a long, long time.

Good, honest rifle and a Deluxe takedown to boot! Hope it letters with the sight, that would be a nice bonus. Price sounds great but I’m not really in touch with today’s prices, they often seem quite low to me but I think you did quite well. Probably doesn’t matter much, I don’t think you’ll be selling it anytime soon. Nice rifle!

Great looking rifle.  You got a good deal for sure, as someone mentioned, there is more than $800 in just the wood. Congrats.

Looks like a nice, honest Deluxe ELW to me, and with a crescent butt …….. which is not the norm for the ELW’s. That was quite a bargain ….. geez, why cant guns like that fall into my lap? I like it …… great job!

Why dis you even question how you did?  What can you get for $800 these days?  Easily worth twice what you paid for it and probably triple what you have into it.

UPDATE:  I received the letter from Cody last week and the gun was shipped with a Lyman front sight and Lyman rear sight and filler blank in the middle so it looks like I have a real winner here.  The rest of the gun matched as well with no mention of the swivels.
