Nice and scarce. I have a 1906 vintage M1894 carbine coming in a week or so. Just closed the deal on # 306366. Std, SRC, 30-30, in real nice condition. Got a letter with it. Pics when it arrives. Big Larry

Model 1894 serial number 478521 was manufactured in December 1910.

Was the short or "button" magazine (like on this one) a fairly common option on SRC’s of this vintage? I have a 38-55 SRC as well as a 32WS SRC, and they are both 1910 or 1911 – if I recall, and I have the same short magazine configuration. My recievers also have no blue left on them – while the bbl and tube looks nice.

I have heard some say these are "rare"…. but I seem to see them quite often.

Mike,

Button mag carbines are definitely not "rare". I have no idea (yet) how many of them are out there, but like you, I have encountered a substantial number of them. As my research survey continues to grow, it might be possible to estimate how many were made.
