Picked up a 1892 38wcf that has an M stamped on the top of the receiver where the WP normally would be. Anyone know what this means? The rifle is in poor shape, but shootable. SN is all but worn off from heavy use over it’s lifetime.

Hello,

I have cataloged just over 10,000 individual Model 1892 rifles in my survey and have not seen an “M” stamped on the top of the barrel or receiver.   Can you please post some photos of the rifle and the mark?  Can you still make out the SN?

Michael
