I am New to the forum and have never owned a gun. I know nothing about them. My step father passed in sept of 2017 and I’m just getting around to the guns.

The first one is 1892 model with patten date of oct 14, 1894, and it is so pretty. It’s what i believe to be Nickel plated and it is so shiny it looks like silver. It is monogrammed. My biggest question is concerning the serial numbers. It’s hard to read and I don’t Know which way to read it. If I read It looking toward the butt or barrel. It says 32 WCF as well.

Turn it so the barrel is pointing away from you, and then read the number left to right.

Hello,

Orient the rifle as in the attached photos and then read the numbers.  The date on the barrel is a “patent” date and it actually should read OCTOBER 14 1884.  What is the length and shape of the barrel?   I am conducting a survey of the Model 1892 rifles and have more than 10,800 examples in the effort.   I will be glad to answer any questions which you might have.  And please do post several photos of the gun so we can actually see what you have.

This will help with the photos:
