Not one you run across everyday.I see it’s showing pending, do you know what price they were asking?
I believe it was $7,499.99. Not a bad price if it’s as rare as I think it is. One of the harder calibers to come by being a 38 WCF takedown, plus being an antique and lettered with full nickel. I bet it’s been locked up in a collection for a long time–one of the Cody letters is dated 1965.

Thats a rare bird. Its the only 92 TD Ive run across over the years with full nickel. Likely a 1 of 1 rifle.
For it to end up at Cabelas of all places… I bet the seller had no idea what they had. I normally avoid looking at Cabelas Gun Library because their prices are usually set way too high, but every once in awhile they end up with a gem at a reasonable price.

I agree their prices are typically high, however I enjoy dropping by my local Cabelas from time to time to see what they have as I figure the more antique Winchesters I can physically examine the more and faster I will learn.
As I said in a previous post, Bass Pro has announced it is purchasing Cabelas ($5.5B) so hard to tell what will become of Cabelas’ Gun Libraries. I assume it will come down to what the Libraries contribute to overall sales and profitability.

Yes, they may seem high but they will usually negotiate. Sometimes they don’t know quite what they have and if you’re on your toes that can work for you. More than a few of their vintage Winchesters come from estates. Cabelas’ buyers will make a cash offer on an entire collection, something many folks can’t or won’t do. Most of the rifles I’ve bought there over the past few years have come from estate collections, I’ve taken to calling the Library “The Orphanage” because of all the homeless Winchesters I’ve adopted there, lol.
Yep, Cabelas gets some good stuff from time to time. Most of it is way overpriced, but like TXgunNut said, a lot of times they will negotiate a price with you–a lot of times it depends on how long that particular gun has been in their inventory. They arent too keen sometimes whether something is original or not and it doesnt matter what you tell them, there is no convincing them otherwise. Sad to hear they sold to BassPro. Hope the Cabelas stores keep the same product lines as before. As for the Gun Library its anyones guess. Bass Pro used to have their own version of the Gun Library where they sold used or vintage guns and that went by the wayside years ago.
