Where will I find a tap that size? Or a way to clean the threads?

Dont think you will ever find a tap that size, it’s an oddball. You might have one made for a nice chunk of change.

Another option would be to use a 10×36 tap which is fairly available.

MAJ dia of a #10 is .184,  and 35 1/2 vs 36 on short screw, you may never notice the difference.

Anybody see a problem with that?

A 10-36 is a special also, and will probably cost at least $30 or so, however it is readily available. I think Mike is correct though, it will probably do the job for such a short engagement length.

10-36 is the front Tang sight screw as well.  A standard 10-32 screw will go in a few turns before getting tight , some 10-32 s have been forced in , and others have used a standard , and common 10-32 tap to chase out threads, so they wouldnt have to worry about getting the oddball correct screw
