I have a chance to buy a 85-90% 50-100-450 with crescent butt and set triggers. It has a case colored frame with octagon barrel. Gun has a few spots of surface corrosion but looks like it wasn’t fired 100 times. Julia’s told the guy after seeing it that they thought it would be 25-35. Im trying to put a number on it to make an offer but thats not easy with the auction houses wanting it. Don’t have much to go on so… any ideas?

A few more details will help:
Does it match Cody letter, year of manufacture , % of case color and vividness, blue %, wood condition, special sights and options,originality, etc.
A few have sold privately this past year, but not that low if your description is accurate and meets above conditions.

You might be fighting a uphill battle. Auction houses always tell gun owners their guns are worth more than they are to get them to list them.

Ask the guy what they quoted him for the seller premium. Since the seller is going to loose that you can subtract that from what its worth and make him a offer. On a $35,000 item it would be $5250 at the standard 15% rate.

Usually they have a sliding scale for the hammer price plus 1% insurance. Last time I was quoted consigning anything it was;
$7,500-10,000 = 10% +1 % insurance
$10,001-15,000 = 5% +1% insurance
$15,001-20,000 = 2.5% +1% insurance
$20,001 and over was 0% +1% insurance
Could be a buyback if it doesn’t sell.
