Had the chance to buy an 1886 today and was looking for values of such. The gun is in fair condition with the wood fairly ruff. Bore is frosty at best. Rifle is ser. 86380 in 38-56 oct barrel which puts it at 1894. No bluing left on the gun but no pitting either. Any thoughts on value?

I also picked up a 1907 in about 95% condition. Not my cup of tea but a nice gun.

Tough to see that one photo.  Assuming no extra holes or other big problems, $1500-2000 would be my guess

Interesting. Probably the angle but did you happen to measure the barrel? Could be 28 instead of 26. Looks like it was stored under less than optimal conditions for some time.

It is also in strong running for the least desirable chambering.

Sure the condition turns me off, but were it a .45-70, .45-90 or 50-110, I would perk up.  And were it a .50-100 I would really per up  🙂

And to complete the list, it would catch my attention were it a .38-70 or .40-70.

As you probably know that’s one of the reasons I find it interesting. 😉
