Hey guys, I am trying to figure out an insurance value on a family heirloom. I have a 1886 in 45-90, fill length 26″ octagon barrel, takedown, with buckhorn sights, Cody letter puts it being made in 1891. I have taken it to 3 local gunsmiths that average it to be about 75%. Any help in insurance value would be appreciated.
Thanks
Garrett
Garrett,
Pictures are a must to tell what the condition is to figure a value.

Garret,
Bob is right, good pics are a must. The folks here can help but we must really see it all to be close and accurate. Your gun could be as low as 2000 to as high as 60K. Is it Deluxe, is it a case color receiver, is it a special barrel weight, how does it letter out? These questions and more determine value along with condition, it really is a “totality of the circumstances.”
For example, sometimes a genuinely rare gun with special features but 20% finish is worth 20K, but a standard gun with 90% finish may only be 5K. High quality pictures are everything. Good luck!
