1. #2302. Octagon bbl. long rifle only clambering. Tang sight. Honest 98 % condition
2 #140610. S,L,LR mint and flawless
3. #122013 S,L,LR 99%
I found the first rifle at a pawn shop in Waco Texas in the early 1980s so surely it’s not a fake as twobit has tirelessly reported about. It’s interesting that I was keeping track of the 3 rifles on g b two bit posted about. The rifle chambered for WRF per blue book should be caliber stamped on the receiver, I didn’t see this in his photos. Where exactly is this receiver mark? After some time on the forum last week I ordered Schwing’s Volumes on slide actions and Stroebels old gunsights book. After a lot of online pricing I spent less than 150 dollars for the three books. Can’t wait to dig into volumes and learn more about model 61s.

Thanks Tom,
I appreciate your adding the rifles into the survey. Have fun reading Schwings books. They are very good. I have refined a few dates and SN ranges with my work. On the WRF rifle the receiver face just near the magazine should be stamped WRF. SHOCKER!! The seller does not show that area in any of his photos!!?? I wonder why?

Michael when did they start adding the WRF to the receiver? My 90 has it but my 1st model doesn’t? #7532
Bert should move this to a more appropriate category.

Would a standard (nonWRF) marked model 61 receiver feed and function if altered with a replacement WRF barrel?
If the barrel was the only alteration I don’t believe it would.
Schwing’s second volume addresses the differences, I think you’ll find his books quite interesting. Receiver and some action parts are different.
