Hi Gary,
Here’s another 1894 short rifle for the survey. What a shame for the 2 extra holes in the receiver….

Hi,new to WC. My brother has a model 94 short rifle. It is a take-down model in 32-40, case hardened lever with about 50% original blue. Serial 341052

Bud,
Thanks for the info. Can you get the rest of the details below if possible?
Here are the details that I would like to have to enter them:
- complete serial number
- barrel length (24″ or shorter)
- forearm length (7 3/8″, 8 3/8″, 9 3/8″) for the shorter variations, is the rear sight dovetail moved back an inch?
- barrel type (round, octagon, 1/2 octagon)
- magazine length (full, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4)
- takedown?
- extra lightweight? if so, is the front sight dovetailed, or ramp style?
- butt (crescent, shotgun, carbine, swiss)
- caliber
- any other special order features (checkering, pistol grip, etc.)

I recently joined the Winchester collectors forum in order to learn something about a light weight takedown rifle that I recently picked up. When I saw your survey request I thought I would send you the information about my rifle so here it is.
Here are the stats:
1894 lightweight take down rifle — 30 WCF
Serial number 367470
Barrel length 22 inches and 9/16 diameter at the muzzle
Half length magazine
8 ½ inch fore end
pistol grip checkered stock (checkering is well worn)
Shotgun style butt plate with Winchester logo
ramp base for front sight
rear sight 4 1/2 inches from receiver with a single folding blade with a white triangle instead of a notch
Lyman model 21 sight
What appear to be factory installed sling swivel studs
August 14 patent date on barrel
The rifle is well worn but not abused
Hello Mike, and welcome to the WACA website forums!
Thank you for posting the information on your ELW Short Rifle. Of particular interest is the Patent date error marking on the barrel. Your rifle is the just the 4th one found thus far (most of them were Carbines).
