Hello all, I’m a very long time collector of JMBrowning guns, including all his Winchester designed guns. A few years ago I purchased an 1895 saddle ring carbine from 1914, I believe, that has a flaming bomb cartouche stamped on the receiver near the factory Winchester proof mark stamp. I’m just wondering if anyone here has seen or heard of one of these SRC 95s with this stamping. In 42 years of collecting,I’ve never seen another one. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time
Roger

Hey Tim, I’m really computer illiterate. I only know how to text or possibly email pictures. I’ll reconfirm the serial number and production date. This carbine had a rifle style stock and buttplate on it when I got it. Being the original type nerd , I found nice original wood, both stock ,forearm and hand guard and replaced them. My theory was that the original carbine stock had some unit type stamping in it. Whoever had it replaced it so as not to raise theft questions. Just my theory. I’ll gladly send a few pictures to your email if I can make it work. I’ll assume that you don’t want me to have your phone number. But I’ve become pretty good at texting photos.
Thanks for your time

Roger, I am also not a computer lover or geek. But I will at least look at what you may send to [email protected].
Do you still have the wood that came on the carbine? If so look at the buttstock for KSM as inspector’s marking. Left grip area maybe. You really lucked out if you found original top handguard wood. Is the barrel scraped up from the metal clips going on or off the barrel repeatedly? What date may be on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the receiver? It will be a 2 digit number.
Tim

Tim, I don’t have the rifle buttstock, etc. anymore .It was obviously a replacement, with no cartouches or printing anywhere. otoryI still need to look at the serial # again and confirm approximate date of manufacture. I will email you pictures of the rifle and the flaming bomb stamp. It’s identical to the one on my S@W victory pistol, only larger in size.
Regards and thanks
