Very cool stuff Larry. I have some Military stuff from the Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish American War, WW I and WW II. I have a jump bag for a M1 Garand. Most of what I have is Army except the Navy issued Lee rifle that could have been used in Cuba, the Philippines and other Pacific Islands by the Navy or Marines.I live in Ca. too. I have a Carbine and 2 Garands. All 3 are registered in Ca. Why would yours be illegal? I haven’t kept up on the latest determination on magazines of the era that can hold more than 10 rounds though. Illegal then not then???? I use 10 rounders at the range but nobody checks.
Folding stock. I guess that makes them illegal. I moved from Calif in 1997 after spending my entire life there. None of the stuff I had was illegal back in the day. 1st thing I did when I moved to Utah, was to buy a legal full auto Thompson SMG. Still have it. I just gave my WIN 13 Garand and beautiful 2-43 Inland carbine away to a friend. He got my 1943 Colt M1911A1 too. I’m 80 now and have started giving guns away. I had over 200. I kept my USMC M1903 as it was my 12th birthday present. Dad got it at Camp Pendleton USMC base in 1954 for $25. Dad was a 20 year Marine. Big Larry
Now I understand. Used to surf at Camp Pendleton. Got escorted out a few times. Used to go in near Basilone Rd. When I was in the Army I had my wife get a Marine Corp sticker on our car. This way she could go to the PX at El Toro MCAS and I could get into Pendleton to surf.
Surfer Joe. I lived on Camp Pendleton’s Wire Mountain from 1953 thru 1957. Good place to grow up. Lots of room to explore. I got picked up a few times being in an out of bounds area. The MP’s could not do much to a 13 year old kid. Good memories of going to work with my Dad at range 213. He taught Marines how to shoot the M1911A1. He was a Master Distinguished Pistol shot. As a Marine myself, I spent some time at the beach at San Onafree. Big Larry
San Onofre (Old Man’s) is a bit south of where we surfed. We surfed farther north at Trestles. Trestles is below the cliffs at Cotton’s Point where Nixon’s house was. A few times we sat out in the water as the landing craft were coming to shore between us during maneuvers. Never realized how big those craft were.
