I bought this thinking the guy didn’t know what he had but now I pretty much figured out that I don’t know what I have. Story is that it is Sioux Ogala. It was with an 1873 that was said to be the original gun to the scabbard. The gun however looked like it was used for a boat paddle then dropped in the river and recovered 5 years later. The guy said he was given this story but it wasn’t documented. Either way, I bought the scabbard because he wanted an additional $1200 for the rifle and there was no way I was paying that for an 1873 in that condition. This thing is real old buckskin thats very soft. Stitching is sinew or some type of fibrous material. It has a lot of age here and there. The red trade cloth, or whatever it is, is rooted in a few places. The stitching has broken in areas. The beadwork seems to be 95%. The buckskin is pretty much 99% present but a few seems turned loose. Anyone got any data on what tribe this might have been?http://s389.photobucket.com/user/6101975/media/scabbard/_DSC1673_zps2757ab7d.jpg.html
