Hey Everyone! As a huge 218 Bee fan(it was my first rifle), I was extremely excited to find this 218 Bee crate this past week! It is in excellent condition!
I purchased it from a guy who’s dad had a gun store around Lancaster, PA in the 1940s-50s, and when he closed up shop he took some of the more rare crates that were laying around.
Does anyone know how rare that these are and what their value is? I’ve never seen one before for the 218 Bee cartridge.
Picked up a dozen or so vintage Winchester wood cartridge crates at a shop in Bloomfield, NY about 15 years or so ago. All in nice condition, maybe an average of around $50.00 each. There very well may be a premium for a 218 Bee crate.

Hello Kurt,
Do you also have the box lid?
I see these wooden cartridge boxes routinely sell for $50 – $75 (with no lid). With the lid (a 100% complete box) you can easily double the value.
I suspect that if the box was offered to a Model 65 or Model 43 collector, you could easily get $100 – $200 (depending on if you have the box lid).

Maybe it’s a geographic thing, or maybe I am just in the right place at the right time – I pick them up, not 218 Bee, but about any brand, without the lids, for about an average of $35. I’ve seen them sit on the shelves at antique shops priced at $50 for a long-long time. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just saying what I typically pay for them. There are a few really nice ones in Lawarence, KS at an antique shop for $50 ea and they have been there, I’d guess an easy 3-years. I offered them 37.50 ea. if I bought all three, and they told me “no” and the last time I looked, still sitting there.
