This might explain how they get that way!!  I am sure he probably hoses it down after the hunt to get most of the mud and dirt off of it.

The front sight on many 92 SRCs has been used to lift many a billy off the fire!

Id like to know what the Aussies put on the wood stocks of their Winchesters back in the day that makes the wood so dark.  Seems like a lot of them have darker than normal wood.
