Winchester Model 9422 Legacy and Classic Questions|Winchester .22 Rim Fire|Forum|Winchester Collector

 I know the Legacy came with checkered pistol and forend.The Classic came with an uncheckered pistol grip and forend,to the best of my knowledge.Was looking at a Model 9422 Classic on line today, which had a checkered pistol grip forend.At first I thought someone had just mistaken a Legacy for a Classic.However ,the rifle had the curved butt plate of the Classic.

 So I am wondering if the some Classics could have been made with checkering?For the most part I am leaning toward the idea, that someone had a Classic checkered at some point in time,but wanted to hear what others knew of the rifle and their opinion on the subject.

 Would be great, if some one would write a book on the Model 9422 rifles.
