Other than counting each round, does anyone have a suggestion on how to avoid dry firing after the last round is fired?  Thought of loading a practice cap as the last round only to discover that they are not to be used for dry firing.    The plastic ones that I find come with poor reviews so I am not sure if they will cycle through the 74.

You should always know what round your on, even when you have hold open on last round. It’s safe gun practice.

Since I only have 10 fingers and can’t handle higher math, I was hoping to avoid the occasional dry fire.  Are there any snap caps that would work reasonably well in a 74 for this purpose?  As far as I can tell, the answer is that dry wall anchors work as well as commercial ones.  Either may not cycle through the mechanism and some may break apart.
