Ok Mike, feel free to adopt me! I’ll be 61 this year, but being a disabled combat veteran it probably pushes me to 70. I’m always looking for a deal on a 52 and a 58 to complete my rimfire samples. I just can see spending over 1k for a 52.The 1886 on top is my 52 placeholder.

I was thinking you needed a 75 but I think I see one hiding behind that sling. I accumulated a similar representation but did not spend a lot of time in pursuit of a 58, I figure my very nice 57 is close enough. The 52 is worthy of pursuit, my 52C was restored to optimal working order by our own Seewin and I’m liable to get a speeding ticket headed south for a bit of rimfire range time. At this point I’m liquidating many of my rimfires that lack receiver or tang sights. I get tired pulling guns out of my safe in search of something I want to shoot or take to a show. As I generally stack them on my bed I sometimes have to nap on the floor before moving them back into the safe. Ben saved me from liquidating a pretty cool 1890 by making me a smoking deal on a Lyman tang sight earlier today. Good chance it will tag along on the rimfire range trip if I can focus long enough to install the new sight. A nice 75 Target hitched a ride with me from Cody and its new owner will need to sight it in so I’m thinking he’ll be ready for a range trip as well.
Are all the motels in southern Wyoming dumps?

Howdy folks. New member here but I thought the discussion on the model 56 was interesting and this might be a good thread to drop a reply. I recently acquired a 56 with a checkered stock so I am assuming it might be a Fancy Sporting. It also has the rear Lyman 42, a folding leaf rear and scope mounts. The front sight appears to be an addition with a hooded aperture. There’s no telling what has been done with this gun. Once I get it I will take a closer look. I currently have two model 57’s and for a brief time I had another model 56 which I let go to another collector friend. I have several model 75 targets and a couple of model 75 sporters. Anyhow I love 22lr and hope to learn more on this forum. I don’t know if allowed but here is a link to the gun that I just acquired.

I do not believe that’s an original stock. I think it’s a replacement.
Fair enough. Thank you for the observation. It seems I went down the model 56/57 rabbit hole 🙂 Schnabel foreends are tough to recreate though. At least I have access to a 56 and a couple of 57s to compare it to.
