I, recently, purchased a 52B and when I removed the action from the stock I noticed 4 black circular stickers two at the fore arm and two at the back of the action. They are just slightly cushiony.  Any idea for their purpose?  Any help will be appreciated.

Early B’s used 1/2″ diameter round pads, while later B’s and C’s used 1/2″ x 1″ x 1/16″ thick neoprene strips(3). They worked in conjunction with the barrel band tuning device to absorb vibrations and provide a resilient surface for the barrel and receiver. There should actually be 5 pads, 1 under rear tang, 2 in front of receiver and 2 close to the barrel band. You are lucky in that most of the time they are missing.
