Does anyone know when Winchester or Aguila makes those special runs of ammo for the .22 win auto ammo for the 1903 ????? Or does anyone know of a reasonable place to pick up any? I know when Target Sports has it, it is somewhat reasonable for today’s prices. I have a few boxes left that I had to pay $18 a box for. Better than not having any at all.
Thanks
Steve
The value fluctuates with the amount of time that passes between the infrequent production runs, and in the current environment, I would expect the time intervals to get longer versus shorter. Those of us that have a supply of it will only sell at an obscene profit.

Understood for sure. I only have 5 boxes left, which is not a lot, but I can shoot it. I do know when I see it again I will buy a case. Luckily I do have a 63 that does LR….

I bought some Aquila ammo for my M03 a few years ago, then I was advised not to shoot it since it is a 2nd year rifle with the bronze firing pin. So I bought a box of 1915 collector ammo, close as I could get to 1904, and never shot it. It’s a 95%+ rifle. I have 2 M63’s and they are pretty much the same. Big Larry

Can you let me know if this one has a bronze firing pin ? Serial#113493 I use to know what year it was but forgot….Think it was 27

Steve, my rifle is # 8493 with a PR of 1-1904. Our own Mr. Hartman may be able to give you a PR date.
JWA can tell you if yours is steel or not. Yours is a pretty high number for a bronze firing pin. Big Larry

My friend just sold 2 boxes of 22 auto at the Vegas gun show for $30 each and was told that was too cheap. He may have some more and I could ask. No promises.

As a collector, I paid $150 for a minty box of 1915 dated Winchester ammo in a sealed box. Could not find a 1904 dated box to match my M1903. Big Larry

Based on the above posts my 1903 probably won’t be fired while I own it. If I wanted to pay silly prices for rimfire ammo I’d buy an 1866 and blow ALL my retirement funds.

Steve,
February 1924, and No, it does not have a bronze firing pin.

So my rifle must have been made at the tail end of production for the 1903’s… I suppose I should go pick up some more of the ones I found for $18 a box. They were Winchester brand..
