Winchester offered special order model 1890’s until the end of production (or very near the end). This is an assumption, but I have had or seen numerous pistol grip rifles, and fancy rifles well into the 800,000 serial number range.

Does anyone have or has anyone seen a deluxe model 90 with a serial number above 850,000 (about 1937)? If so, what is its serial number?

Austin’s assumption that Winchester would make a deluxe model 90 if ordered (right up to the last model 90 in 1949) makes sense. However, given that regular production of the model 90 ended in 1932, it would seem that orders for deluxe “outmoded” model 90s by 1937 or thereafter would have been rather rare. Hence my interest in how many, if any, post 1937 deluxe model 90s are out there.

Thanks.

I have seen a few, both at shows and on auction sites, but as with all things Winchester they have been created by people trying to increase the value of their offerings. There are some really fancy grained replacement stocks available, at least there was a couple of years ago when I was in need of a new stock.

I personally am not of the opinion that Winchester made any “Fancy” or “deluxe” Model 90 rifles after early June of 1932, at serial number 846022 when regular production ended. Possible yes, but highly unlikely.
