The Winchester 1300 was originally called and rolled engraved “SPEED PUMP”. Was the 63 originally call the WINCHESTER SPEED KING?

YES per advertisement introducing the 63 to the public…see 2nd line in paragraph.

Interesting, I never noticed that before.  Sounds more like marketing hype to me than an actual product name but I have not done much research on the Model 63.  Naming .22 rifles was more of a Remington thing, Winchester typically stayed with simple model numbers instead.

Thanks for posting the advertisement, I always love reading that stuff.

I like that, thanks for sharing it with us. Funny thing is my first 22 was (and still is) a Remington Speedmaster. Had to try some standard velocity ammo Sunday. No surprise it barely cycled the action, if at all.
