I have no idea if it’s real or faked, maybe you folks can tell?   I have no plans to bid on it.  It’s about 50 miles north of me.

Hello,

It certainly is in original condition and has not been refinished.  I have requested the full serial number form them.

For someone like myself who isn’t knowledgeable about these matters, what is is with the model 61 that is so collectible and causing folks to fake them?

The most common occurrence is taking a standard rifle worth about $900, remove the barrel and replace it with either an octagon shaped, single size chamber barrel or a round “LR shot only” barrel to then create a +$3000 rifle.

In the case of this gun it’s just a great little rifle. It’s not one of the sought-after variations but I like it.
