The values on these are steadily going up. This is a target M47 with one of the prettiest stocks I have ever seen on a single shot. They are also extremely accurate. Look pretty much like a M69-A and are very well made. The swivels are not original, but they are factory Winchester thanks to my buddy, JWA. Even with the swivels I could not pass this pretty rifle up. Big Larry
I have to agree, with the exception of the Model 52D/E, the 47 was the pinnacle of the Winchester single shot rifles which evolved from the Browning designed Winchester Model 1900. The 47 is a direct descendant of the Model 69A which was designed by Frank Burton (et al) of Winchester.

They are a great rifle. I bought one that someone added a front sling to. Mounted a bi pod on it for my grandson. I got a new old stock from gun parts corp.Have a great day.
Funny you mention one for your Grandson. I bought one for my Granddaughter when she was 16. She is 50 now, and still has that rifle. One of the best 22’s to teach kids on. The auto safety is a great feature. Big Larry

Well, since you asked…I could live without the chrome; but then I’m the kind of guy who, when whitewalls were the vogue, had them mounted with the white side turned in.
Good point, I’ve never much cared for Browning rifles quite possibly because of the gold triggers. Apparently I’m overcoming that prejudice since most of my clays shotguns have gold triggers. I’m guessing chrome bolt and trigger is a standard feature on this model?
BTW, I used to paint my whitewalls black with some long-forgotten DuPont product. Wide whitewalls didn’t look right on my old 65 Comet Cyclone.
The chrome trigger was standard on all of them however some books mention the very early Model 47 rifles came equipped with a blued bolt.

Thanks, Jeff. I still like it, chrome and all.

Jeff, I have even heard of one with a grooved receiver. Big Larry
I had never thought about a grooved receiver on the 47, it was discontinued in 1954 and the grooved receivers were introduced mid-1954 so I guess it is possible. I don’t recall ever seeing one though.
Do you know of someone with a grooved 47 receiver? I would love to examine one.
