I have researched the forum but still have not been able to determine what kind of front sight I have on my rifle. s/n 372921 with an A under the number. There is no wp on the receiver but the barrel has a oval p and wp on top of the barrel. The front sight is a steel circle with a post inside that flips up and down. Can someone tell me what I have and approx. value. It’s in very good condition 85-90%

It sounds like you have a Lyman #5 Front sight. If your barrel has 2 proof marks on it, it’s a replacement barrel. If the nomenclature on the barrel reads model 90 the barrel was manufactured 1919 or later. (a replacement barrel will not help the valuation) For an accurate appraisal you will need to post several good high definition pics. of the entire rifle.

The front sight you describe is most likely a Lyman No. 5 Combination.  The barrel on your Model 1890 is not the factory original part (it is a mail order replacement).  If you can post a picture of the front sight, we can positively identify it.
