Hi Jeff,
Yes, there are some folks here who can help with information. Firstly, what do you mean by “youth model”? Winchester never made a smaller than normal size of the Model 75. They made a youth model 67 which had a shorter LOP and barrel but the Model 75 Target and Sporting Rifles were all standard lengths.
If yours has a shorter stock it is possibly one of the CMP rifles that came back from the Army and were used by the ROTC and Junior ROTC. Some of those had the stocks shortened to accommodate younger shooters.
If you can post the serial number and have some photos we can probably give you a lot more information about your rifle.

Well, I’ve tried 2 different hosting sites for my pics and can’t get the URL’s to work for some reason. I see that I can’t upload the pics directly based upon my profile. So, I’m kind of at a roadblock……. The SN is 56687. Is there an email address I can send the pics to? Any help is appreciated…. Total Gun length is approx 32 inches. Barrel length is 16 inches. It appears that the hood on the front sight has been ground off and the owner drilled and tapped the gun for a weaver mount closer to the eye. Somewhat further out on the barrel it appears that someone who knew what they were doing, plugged two holes that were original “Scout” type mounting holes.
Any help with how to upload these pics would be greatly appreciated.
thanks Jeff[Image Can Not Be Found]
From your description, it appears that your model 75 has been modified. Winchester didn’t make a 16 inch barrel. Someone cut it, and hopefully it is a hair over 16 and legal. The value of that gun was also ruined.

You can email the pictures to me and I will post them for you.
Vince is correct that Winchester did not make a 16″ barrel for the 75 and it has very likely been shortened and modified after it left the factory.

Hi Jeff,
Here are your pictures. That is a beautiful rifle that someone has heavily customized. The barrel has been shortened, the Target stock has been reworked (very nicely) and checkered, a different trigger guard has been substituted, the barrel and receiver re-blued among many other changes.
Collectors call this type of non-factory work “sporterization” and your “sporterized” rifle, while VERY nice, has no collector value but it certainly has some value as a shooter.
Thanks for supplying the photos and sharing your custom, one of a kind, rifle with us.
