Hi Jay,
I don’t recall seeing the G6716R Miniature Target Bore rifle [sic] segregated in the Winchester 67 production information to establish a total number produced. For production figures I think they were lumped in with the G6720R “Smooth Bore” model which does not help answer your specific question.
They are certainly listed in the Winchester 1940 and 1941 catalogs and are not in the 1946 and later catalogs. I’m sorry I don’t have a copy of the 1942-1944 Winchester retail sales catalogs (or even know if any catalogs were produced during those war years, I suspect not).
The Stoeger Shooter’s Bible lists them in the 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944 and 1945 catalogs but not the 1946.
Based on the few I have seen over the years I would say you could safely use the word “rare” to describe them.
Here is the information I posted a few weeks ago over on Rimfire Central during a similar discussion;
I have 5 marking variations noted but I segregate the “Smooth Bore” from the “For Shot Only” since they were separate model numbers and had different barrels (standard sights on the 27″ “Smooth Bore” and bead sights on the 24″ “For Shot Only”).
Both the Smooth Bore and the Miniature Target Bore For Shot Only models were offered concurrently for a while so in my notes I have them listed separately this way;
________________________________________________________________
G6720R – 67 Smooth Bore 1st marking (“Smooth Bore” stamped behind rear sight) – 1937-1940
G6720R – 67 Smooth Bore 2nd marking (“Smooth Bore” stamped in front of rear sight) – 1941-1951 based on the original Winchester drawings
G6720R – 67A Smooth Bore 3rd marking (“Smooth Bore” stamped in front of rear sight) – Dec. 1951-end
________________________________________________________________
G6716R – 67 “Miniature Target Bore” For Shot Only 1st marking – 1940-1945 – (April 1940 introduction of the Model 67 Miniature Target Bore with 24” barrel, 81A front sight and 94B rear sight).
G6716R – 67A “Miniature Target Bore” For Shot Only 2nd marking – Dec. 1951-19?? based on the original Winchester drawings Note: I have not personally seen any examples of this variation although there are 1951 dated Winchester drawings for the new barrel marking and 67A Miniature Target Bore barrel.
________________________________________________________________
You will notice that the marking change from 67 to 67A occurred later (1951) on the Smooth Bore and For Shot Only than it did for the standard models which were changed from 67 to 67A in 1949.
Hope this helps.

Jay,
I can scan the pages of the catalogs I have where it is listed and email them to you if that would help?
