just picked up a I believe to be a real early model 62, has the steel but plate, # 1093 can anybody pin this down to the month of being made, almost has to be in the first year?    terry

Terry-

According to the Red Book 10776 62’s were built in 1932, first year of production. Red Book also states that production began in March of that year so in the absence of records from CFM on this rifle you could estimate it was built in March or April, May at the latest.

Schewing’s excellent book on the subject says

1932 3-30   900

April 29      2265

So serial 1093 receiver was made early April say 4-5-32, give or take

Thanks, Ray. Just did a quick re-read of Schwing’s second volume a few days ago. I’d already forgotten about the receiver date table on page 191-193.

No, it would not.  Per Ned Schwing’s published information, 6533 was manufactured in June 1932 (see the table below).
