I have what I believe is a factory configured model 61 which wears a Marbles W15 tang peep, Marbles rear sight blank and Marbles improved No.6 gold bead front sight. There isn’t so much as a mark, ding, dent, scratch or otherwise on the front sight, rear sight blank and on or around the barrel where they’re mounted. They look as though they’re factory installed. I’m curious if there’s a way to find out for sure? It appears that the Cody Firearms record keepers don’t have info on but a small percentage of model 61’s and I’m hoping one of you could tell me it what I’m trying to find out, is possible.

No warehouse records exist for the model 61. There are however serial number application dates available for serial numbers 62775-68758. This will not tell you anything regarding configuration. In regards to determining originality, all we can do is determine whether the sights on the rifle are sights that Winchester could have offered as a special order feature. There is no definitive way of knowing who installed your sights.
