Model 52 with short barrel

I’ve run across a 52 with the barrel at 22″. 13617 is the serial number. They never came this short correct?

No: It should be 28 inches. The barrels are measured from the muzzle(crown) to the face of the chamber not to where the barrel meets the front of the receiver.
