Model 52 .22 Short rifles

Hello, I found a Model 52 chambered in .22 Short, but it’s on a 17,xxx receiver. I was under the impression that the .22 Shorts were made very briefly and this serial number doesn’t seem to track with that. Everything looks right, the barrel is a correct Winchester marked .22 Short, any information appreciated, thanks.
