I have a model 03 which is apparently chambered for .22 LR.  The barrel is stamped “.22 Cal” not .22 auto.  Ser. No. 113813 which shows to be mfg. in 1927, but Wikipedia says .22 LR chambering did not happen until the 1933 change to the Model 63. Also the bolt face is correctly sized for the .22 LR rim size and the extractor is correct for the .22 LR rim.

What do I have here?  It fires .22LR ammo just fine, but will not feed more than 2 or 3 rounds without a jam.  My question is did win. make the 03 in the .22 LR chambering before the 1933 re-design?  Whatcha say?

I would guess someone put a liner in the barrel. (should be seen fairly easily) The model 1903-03 was never chambered for 22 LR(maybe an experimental) Only the 63’s are chambered for the LR casing and like wise you will never find a 63 chambered in 22 Auto.

Your jams may be caused by the ammo itself. High velocity round nosed ammo works best out of these rifles.
