Hello,
Please provide the complete serial number. That stated, Model 61 serial number 285000 was manufactured in the year 1960. Winchester did not officially introduce the 22 WMR until the January 1961 catalog. As a guest on the WACA forum, you will be unable to directly upload pictures in a post. What you can do is load them on a photo host website, and then post the URL address to them in your posts here.

You have a very collectable 61. The .22 W.M.R.F. marking on the barrel according to Ned Schwing’s book “Winchester Slide Action Rifles ” was put on during the time that Winchester was trying to decide what stamping to put on the barrel. IMHO if this 61 is in 95%+ it would be valued in the range of $2000 to $2500. Not many with this barrel stamping. You hit the jackpot.

I agree, probably towards the end of the use of that stamp. I have 285474 and it has the later stamp.

To quote Mr. Jackie Gleason, “how sweet it is”. What a super find and deal
Reminds me of a Reno show a few years back. I walked up to a table when this guy was handling a beautiful Winchester 94-22. He was hymning and hawing and could not decide to buy it. I had been looking for one for a friend. He set it down and I picked it up. The first thing I noticed was the price tag. $300, and the carbine was drippy mint. It was an estate sale and I walked away with this fine Winchester. Snooze and you lose. It sure made my buddy happy as I gave him that carbine.
Wish you more good luck in the future. Deals like that do not come around that often. Your Xmas came a little early. Thanks for sharing. Big Larry

I pulled a similar stunt, Larry. I was at a Market Hall show looking for an extra press to bolt to a portable table and take to the range for load development. A guy was telling a dealer the RCBS press on his table was aluminum. Dealer said it wasn’t. I looked at the press and the price tag, gave the man his asking price ($20), told him it was aluminum and I wanted it. Haggler walked away empty handed and I had a great portable loading press for assembling loads at the range.
