I bought this factory scoped M69 off the Internet a few years ago. Looks like it just came out of a box.  Big Larry

It does–phenomenal. Did this one make it into JWA’s 69 book?  I see several are from “private collections.”  I get lost in the bewildering multiplicity of 69 variants!

That one did not, although he has several others featured in the 69 book (and will have some in the upcoming Model 75 book also).  I think he acquired it after the book was off to the publisher but it is certainly worthy of inclusion!

There are certainly a lot of variations in the Model 69, that is why it took 450 pages to sort them out.  The Model 75 is even more complex and the manuscript is currently at 650 pages………

It pays to have friends in the gun book business.

I bought that rifle in 2018. Was not cheap, but had to have an original scoped M69.

Hard to find these, but my JTSS was even harder to find. After I bought that, Mr. JWA helped me find out where it went originally.

He’s really a nice guy.  Thanks Jeff. Big Larry

Clarence I agree about getting lost in the variants. Jeff & Larry have been helping me out with the purchase of a 75 Sporter & target model & a wealth of information and expertise on these. I just ordered an autographed copy of Jeff’s 69 book & can’t wait for the 75 book to be available. The 22’s are an entire new territory of collecting for me & has rebooted my interest.

The 22’s are indeed fascinating. I’ve enjoyed my 69’s and 75’s but I can’t seem to focus on any particular model. Jeff’s 69 book helped me sort it out a bit and I’m hoping his 75 book will help me understand my attraction to that model. I think the 75 Sporter is quite likely the most underrated Winchester 22 but my opinion changes faster than Texas weather. And for those keeping score at home the latest tornado missed me by almost two miles!

No doubt that will change after publication of Jeff’s next treatise, just as “bargain” 69s are fast disappearing; there’s a standard model now on GI listed at $900
