Loose stock on 9422M XTR

Spanking new member here. Thanks for allowing me to join. My 9422M XTR has some slight play in the joint where the receiver meets the metal that transitions to the wood stock. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I bought this gun new in 1987 or 1988, and has always been just a tad loose in this area. It has not gotten any worse, but then it only has a out 250 rounds put through it.

This is perhaps an obvious question but you did not state whether or not you verified all the screws are securely tightened. If so, you could simply remove the stock and use a business card or something similar to make a shim to remove the play. Hope this helps, best. Mike
