OfflineDoes anyone know why there are 2 holes drilled on the left side of the barrel on this 1903 model 22 ? I am guessing they are for a scope mount of some kind but which kind? Someone has filled the holes with solder in the past. This is a rough ole gun made in 1911 but shoots very well. Thanks

OnlineAlmost certainly for a scope mount and likely for a Weaver mount since I think I can see where the forend has been relieved a little along the barrel channel also. What is the CtC hole spacing?

Thanks! The spacing is 2 3/8″ between centers.
Hi Cliff,
The 2 center mounting holes on the Weaver N2 base are exactly 2 3/8″ CtC. That was the most commonly used .22 rim fire base with that hole spacing, although there may be others.
Hope that helps.
Best Regards,

Photo of one that has been “notched” at the front (looks like it would be a drop-in fit on your rifle) –
