For you guys with 1890’s chambered in 22 Long, ammo is available for $9.99 per hundred. It’s been awhile since it’s been available. There is also a rebate going on for this……….

With UPS hazardous shipping add another $25+ to the price. Sportsmans Warehouse got a bunch in for about $11.00 a box and JWA and I bought them all. I got 1,000 rds myself. I think he got 1,000 rds too. No shorts to be found. The Sportmans 22’s are actually cheaper. No shipping charges. This is fresh CCI ammo. Just about the best you can get. Big Larry

Yup, I got 1000 rds too. I think they had more in the back room. No hazmat fee, just diesel fuel for an 800 mile round trip……..
It was worth it to see Larry’s beautiful 1886 though!

Hazmat shipping…………As far as I know ups and fed ex do not charge hazmat on loaded ammo. I have never been charged a hazmat fee for loaded ammo.(whether sending or receiving) Loaded ammo only requires an ormd sticker. Powder and primers will have a hazmat fee. USPS will not carry any of it.

This is their rotten policy, I know, along with batteries or anything containing a battery, and a long list of other stuff, but an out of state gunshop sent me 5000 rounds of 22LR in a large Priority box! Felt like it weighed 50 lbs! Several times also I’ve mailed single boxes of various kinds of ammo in the smallest Priority box.

OK………….I should have stated it as, “USPS will not knowingly carry any of it.”I too have received “restricted” items via USPS by individuals not up to snuff on regulations or disregarding their policy. I don’t know what the penalty is for sending items that are not allowed but for the few extra bucks it costs to do it legitimately I don’t intend to find out. (especially when the recipient is paying freight) That’s just me and to each their own, I am not lecturing or preaching, just stating what I do.
Best,

UPS has a haz mat charge on any amount of loaded ammo. I buy some old stuff from Ray Giles and Wards Auction and there is always a minimum UPS Haz Mat charge of, I think, $16.00 + shipping. Big Larry

I believe they are fleecing an extra $16.00 out of you if that’s the case………… I have purchased ammo from Midsouth shooters, Midway, Natchez, Cheaper than dirt and sportsmans guide and NEVER paid a Hazmat fee, only shipping. Hazmat charges are $25.00 on any powder-primer order I have placed. When placing hazmat orders there are 3-4 of us that will combine an order to keep the costs down. UPS has a toll free # to call for shipping any hazardous material, the # is 800 554 9964 You can verify to see if you have been taken on hazmat charges or if I have been gifted by several companies that ship ammo everyday and just did not bother to charge me.
My last invoice from Midway for a brick of the 22 longs, After my $10.00 rebate it cost me $6.00 to ship, comes out to 10.60 per hundred and I never left the house…………On that note I believe mine were cheaper and then there is still a sales tax issue on your end which has also increased your cost.
