Just returned from town with a new to me 1955 model 63. Beautiful finish with just some marks from gun rack, 2 on the bluing 1on the furniture. Pictures tomorrow. The funny thing is, I was just talking (and posting) to my neighbor about his 63. Today as I was leaving the local VA center, I turned right instead of right, by the time I thought where the hell am I going , I decided to go a block further to a small gun shop. Never found what I like there but what the heck. Walked in and saw the 63. $485 lighter I left. I picked up flowers on the way home.

Awesome! Sounds like you got it for a good price.
Does it have a grooved receiver?

Unfortunately no. I’ve always heard that very few had grooved receivers, about the time they switched to plastic end caps on forearm.
